Truffula Truffles | Dr Seuss Day

These truffles are so cute! They're so quick to decorate - and easy for little hands to help as well!

These are chewy, chocolatey, caramel balls of deliciousness and they certainly won't last long!!! (So you might need to make some sneaky extras just for yourself!!!)

This certainly is the perfect way to celebrate Dr Seuss Day, so why not make some for yourself???

Truffula Truffles

makes: approximately 30-35 truffles

INGREDIENTS

  • 26 caramels

  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips

  • 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream

  • 1-1/3 cups chocolate melts (I used milk chocolate to get the right colour)

  • 2 tablespoons melted dark chocolate

DIRECTIONS

  1. Line a square dish with 2 layers of cling wrap.

  2. In a microwavable bowl, melt the caramels, chocolate chips and cream together. Start with 30 seconds, and then microwave for a maximum of 20 seconds at a time, stirring in between, until it's all melted and smooth.

  3. Spread the melted mixture into the prepared dish, and refrigerate until firm (about an hour).

  4. Tear the pieces into large pinches, and roll those into little balls. Refrigerate once again on the lined tray whilst you prepare the coating.

  5. Melt the chocolate melts in the microwave (ten seconds at a time with stirring in between). Dip the balls into the melts with a spoon, coating entirely before lifting and letting the excess chocolate drip off. Return to the lined tray and set aside until the chocolate has set (about a minute)

  6. Using a piping bag or - if you're confident decorating - a spoon, drizzle the melted dark chocolate over the top of the truffles in a swirl pattern. Let set again.

  7. Enjoy your truffula truffles!!!

So it's easy to see where the inspiration for these truffles came from, but they're still subtle enough that your classy friends won't notice the slight Dr Seuss references you've placed before them!!!

As always, I'd love to see your own creations if you do make these at home! And if you have any comments or feedback please feel free to comment below or send me a direct message!

Until next time!!! Hope you have a great Dr Seuss day!
